Myanmar: A Nation in Transformation

Julie and I recently conducted 2 powerful and strategic leadership conferences in the nation of Myanmar!

There have been many prayers for many years for the liberation of the nation of Myanmar from the tyranny of military dictatorship. The last few years have seen the grip of oppression becoming less and less.  Prophecies have rung aloud in the heavens declaring change, freedom and the advance of God’s Kingdom among these people.

Today, change has arrived!  Myanmar is a nation in transformation!

We arrived just 2 days prior to the first free elections in over 2 decades! There was excitement in the air.  On election day, over 80% of Myanmar’s eligible population voted!

When I opened the Empower Myanmar Leadership Conference in Yangon just 2 days later, during prayer and hearty congratulations, the leaders erupted in praise to God.  It was a moment we’ll remember forever!

Empower International along with World Compassion hosted a 3-day leadership conference for over 300 pastors and leaders from all over the nation of Myanmar.  Every speaker and every message was clearly on-message and flowed powerfully with the agenda of the Holy Spirit for the conference.

Julie and I were so blessed to work together with Jason Law and our guest pastors from the US and Hong Kong.  Pastor Ken Vance from Connecticut, Pastor Stan Saunders from Missouri, Pastor Chris Hart from Oklahoma and Pastor Wayne Crook from Hong Kong all downloaded amazing revelation and encouragement into the Burmese leaders.

When calculated, we discovered that between the entire team of speakers, we had nearly 140 years of ministry experience represented.  It made us all feel a bit older than we really are though. 🙂

One of the highlights for us was a break-out session specifically for men and another for women.  The role of men and women in ministry, marriage, family and Biblical leadership were all rich topics for discussion in these sessions.  These sessions were found very helpful to the leaders!

Julie was also totally excited to give all of the women her new book in the Burmese language, The Empowered Woman!

As Julie and I are committed to empowering leaders in nations to reach their people, we were overjoyed to record another great victory as we continue to advance God’s Kingdom in this part of the world!

A few days later, we conducted another leadership conference for over 100 pastors and leaders in the city of Techileik, Myanmar.  This was a new city for Empower Myanmar, but definitely a new place on our “radar” for future mission work to plant churches and train next-generation leaders.
